Destined to contain a set of silver cutlery, this piece was considered as one of the best specimens of Portuguese rococo furniture, which, despite its small size, unites all the technical and artistic qualities of 18th century furniture.

The walls of the box have pronounced curves, while the decoration is arranged in three ornamental groups, separated by raised outlines. The tooling at the centre depicts an unusual grotesque face, while the outer ornamentation consists of highly detailed floral species. The silver escutcheon bears traditional shell motifs.
