Throughout his career Francisco Vieira was the most international of the Portuguese painters of his time. This group of essays analyses his historical and artistic context and proposes critical clarification of the painter's personality and work. Organised in five thematic sections, it presents almost all the known, located and available works by “Vieira Portuense”, permitting a wider knowledge of his output.
